It was still good.

Really solid read.
Much better than the first one.
I'm looking forward to reading the next one.

Im really starting to get into this series more. It’s got a different vibe from Vampire Academy but still kept the same roots. Im really enjoying it and honestly I really like Sydney. she’s an interesting character with good development on the horizon. It’s so interesting seeing her overcome her biases. Also I love Adrian

Another great fun YA book.
adventurous emotional medium-paced

Thank goodness my sister had access to a larger library than I do and I can continue to read this series. Very excited for this book come in Sydney embrace ur witch.

Welp, a worthy successor to the Vampire Academy novels this is not. It's, by far, a weaker series. While the first book was weaker but still good, this one was very meh. I'm at the point where I might just give the next book a try and, if it isn't better than this, I might have to give this series up.

Sydney's a far less interesting protagonist than Rose. I really miss Rose after sitting through two books of Sydney. She's just so unbelievable dull and, while I wouldn't call her unlikable necessarily, she isn't exactly going to be willing any Miss Congeniality awards.

The plot grinds to a major halt in this book. The vampire/magic/whatever plot is fairly sparse and relegated to conversations here and there. Most of the drama of the book is taken up by typical high school drama, and it wasn't even very interesting typical high school drama.

Adrian honestly deserves better than this book. Who let this happen to him?

That ending. I just love Adrian and Sydney so damn much.

MORE? MORE! @ P.S. I love that book!

THE WORLD: Well if you are familiar with VA then it is really the same. If you are not...well...so there are humans. Then there are morois who are born vampires. Then their are strigois who are evil vampires, they are made. There are also damphirs who are half moroi and half human. Or half moroi and half dhampir, basically they are stronger than humans. Next there are alchemists who cover up for vampire world so no human knows about any of it. Pretty much that is it. Oh an moroi are considered weak and dhampirs are trained as their bodyguards. Strigoi of course the bad guys moroi have to be protected from.

CHARACTERS: So there are rather a few characters in this book. But main one is Sydney and we already met her in VA. She is an alchemist who sticks with the morois to cover up for them basically. So the ones she is covering up are: Jill, Eddy, Angelica, Adrian and well Sonia as well as Dimitri. Jill is the one that everybody wants to find so she is in hiding. Basically they are pretend they one big family and Jill, Sydney, Eddy and Angelica go to a boarding school. Adrian as he is older pretends to be their brother and attends local college. Okay so now Sydney... frankly I used to really like her. Well not anymore. In this book she really started getting on my nerves. Why? Because she starts dating some loser human and becomes a totally cheesy teenager. Bye bye lovable and brainy Sydney. Jill, Eddy, Angelica are really not important. They are just there. The one that is important is Adrian. I really love him, like reallyyyyyy! And I loved how his and Sydney's relationship progressed. I think if not for Adrian I would have given this book rather low rating. And as for Sonia and Dimitri...they aren't really there either. Weird.

LOVE: Sydney starts dating this Brayden Brandon whatever. A total loser if you asked me. But all the time Adrian is on his game too. Shame it is going to take so long for them to get together. Basically romance in this book was very boring.

PLUS: I think the fact that I am very familiar with the world and names make a lot of sense to me. Beauty of reading a spin-off series really.

MINUS: The whole book was just boring sadly.

OVERALL: I am surely continuing with the series and I really hope it will get better.
