3,5/5
sonunu saymazsak okurken bayağı keyif aldım. uykumdan bile feragat edip okuyorum. bu şekilde giderse seri bu ay biter herhalde

Seeing as it's been a while since I've read [b:Bloodlines|8709527|Bloodlines (Bloodlines, #1)|Richelle Mead|http://d202m5krfqbpi5.cloudfront.net/books/1297199431s/8709527.jpg|13582374], I had forgotten what it's like to be inside Sydney's head, which is so very different from our beloved Rose. But that's not to say that I didn't enjoy reading from her POV, albeit in a different way.

Sydney is analytical and queen of studying the facts and logic, but I love how she is increasingly feeling more and more conflicted in her long-standing, Alchemist beliefs--especially by dear Adrian. Their relationship is just so much fun to follow and an absolute joy to witness develop. I just wish I could shake Sydney into seeing the truth behind Adrian's feelings, so that they could both just be happy--but I know better. I'm a long-time fan of Mead, so I know she has to drag both us readers and Adrian and Sydney through some more obstacles and heart-wrenching misunderstandings before we can all be happy. But I am oh-so-excited for the ride.

Overall, this novel was a blast (which is saying something coming from Sydney's POV). It was a tad slow in pieces, and I could've done without annoyingly smart Brayden but it still drew me in. As I said, I loved Adrian and Sydney's budding relationship (oh that ending!), and I cannot wait for more and to finally meet this mysterious Marcus, who will hopefully give Sydney a way out of the Alchemists. Definitely another must-read from Mead!

This might be the best book in the series??? Richelle Mead is an actual comedian through Adrian. His characterization is definitely the strongest here along with his chemistry with Sydney. The one character pining over the other and the other remaining completely clueless was peak literature. Even though these books are nowhere near perfect, my love for them has gotten me out of a particularly bad reading slump.

Oh God.. I cannot stop reading these books.

Honestly was such a ride reading this book. It’s currently 3am and just finished this one and about to start the next one, I have a problem. I’m gonna give this a 4.5-5 star for now but that admittedly might change on reflection. So much to love about this one though.

Longer review now a couple days later! As mentioned, really enjoyed this one so will keep the rating as is. I thought I was going to dislike it because of the love triangle aspect, but it wasn’t really much of one and that side of things does make sense (albeit frustrating sense) in relation to the rest of the world built here. I really like Sydney, a lot more than I ever expected to. She’s a very different protagonist to the extroverted, combative, heavily confident Rose (who I also love in her own way!), and I really love that we actually see a quieter protagonist with insecurities which I think are discussed so well, especially in relation to her relationship with food and body image. I really liked Adrian, someone who I did like in the OG Vampire Academy but always paled next to Dimitri, really comes into his own in this series and I love the connection and interactions he has with Sydney.

Unfortunately, I now have to wait two weeks for the next book to become available at my library so my Bloodlines binge is going to have to go on pause for the moment. Much love for this though.

loved the book. quite like adrian..hes got lots of spunk

I am trying so hard not to put The Indigo Spell on hold right now. It’s right there! It is! I swear, all I have to do is press the Request button and I’ll get a call tomorrow saying that my baby this book is waiting for me.

I did enjoy the second book a LOT more than the first! As you guys know, I only read Vampire Academy to read Bloodlines and am I hell as glad that I did—another great thing, I fell in love with that series too!—but I feel like I will equally love Vampire Academy and Bloodlines for different reasons in my heart.

This book had more than enough of everything. There was romance, there was the paranormal part of this, there was a good insight of the other characters from Vampire Academy! I loved everything about this!

The only thing that wouldn’t let me give this book a five star rating has to be Sydney. I love her, but it is extremely difficult to connect with her. In situations where she uses her abilities, I can connect with her, but when it comes to her “shaking uncontrollably” because she can’t handle Moroi magic, it makes me annoyed.

On top of that, she refuses to accept that humans are delving into magic. Sydney, sweetheart, stop. How can Alchemists even be disgusted by vampires if they are ready to take their blood themselves? Isn’t it kind of selfish how the Alchemists are using her?

Also, I didn’t really like Jill in this book. She felt really whiny to me, and she really didn’t know what she wanted. Everyone had warned her that a relationship with a human could end up going too far and then when she does listen to them it is too late. I understand that she’s just found out that she’s with the Dragomir line and everything, but it kind of annoys me how she’ll do stupid things and then expect Sydney to magically take care of everything for her!

SpoilerI will say, I don’t feel the Jill and Adrian bond in this series. I mean, I know they have one. I just feel like the Lissa-Rose bond were done much better. Maybe it’s because we saw the bond from Rose’s point of view . . . ? I’m not sure.

Also, I have a theory with Jill’s whole “dreamy-talk” with Sydney. From Vampire Academy we know that Rose used to feel Lissa’s anger through the bond. And so when she would become angry she would lash out Lissa’s anger. So maybe when Jill talks to Sydney all star-struck, maybe it’s Adrian’s affection that’s leaking out of the bond?

Also, I knew from the beginning that something was wrong with Trey from the way that they would show how bruised up he would get. It was obvious he had something to do with the hunters, especially with the tattoo on his back.

I’m not sure how I feel about the Adrian-Sydney relationship dynamic! It is very unexpected! Although I am going to say that I did see it coming, and I don’t think that Brayden-Sydney-Adrian are a love triangle because Sydney never had any actual feelings for him!

Overall, The Golden Lily was a much better read than Bloodlines, but I am going to give this one the same rating because the characters didn’t really feel the same to me in this one. If you want to check this series out, I would say that reading Vampire Academy seems kind of mandatory to me because a lot of the things that happen in this book are after the events of the previous series.
