Me sigue encantando Adrián <3
Primera lectura 29/09/2013
Totalmente recomendado!

Let me begin by saying that I tried to pace myself while reading this book. I noticed that I was averaging a book a day and that would soon leave me without any new books to read if I didn't rein in my reading. Well, while it did take me a tad longer than usual to finish "The Golden Lily" (I tried to take as many long breaks in between chapters as possible) but the last few chapters had me gripped 'til the end.
Speaking of the end, I'm rather frustrated with how the book ended BUT I'm happy with how the story was paced and with the introduction of the Warriors of Light, the rogue group that were once aligned with the Alchemists.
Also, while I'm still very much a Dimitri fan, Adrian is growing on me and I think it has a lot to do with the fact that he isn't the spoiled Moroi he appeared to be in the Vampire Academy series. Sydney...well...suffice it to say that if I could smack some sense into that overly sensible but oh-so-clueless head of hers, I would.
The Eddie-Jill-Angeline triangle is interesting but the fact that these girls are young and worried about getting into relationships is a little bothersome. Am I being a prude about it? Maybe but sheesh, Jill is 15!
I know "The Indigo Spell" isn't out yet so I guess I'll have to bide my time until its release... Of course, I'm leaning towards waiting for the trade paperback edition (hey, a girl's got to save every now and again!) so that'll mean a longer wait on my end. *sigh*
All in all, a good sequel to "Bloodlines" and a great continuation to the series while maintaining its own new set of storylines.

Adrian is 100% the reason I keep reading these books. He carries the rating.
You can always count on Richelle Mead to summarize past books in full. It’s like the author has no faith that people read the previous books.
Okay, the Jill modeling subplot is so ridiculous.
Sydney’s inner commentary on Adrian in this book seemed like such a 180 degree shift in how she responded to Adrian in book 1. It’s like she magically fell for him with no time skip in between books. The book does have a lot of tension due to the Brayden relationship which was a plus for me. It was really the redeeming aspect of the book in terms of making the ending so much better.
I thought there should have been a lot more inner turmoil for Sydney and her relationships with vampires from being an Alchemist. It felt a little extreme at the end with so little before that. It is covered, but she is more focused on hiding her relationships than being concerned with betraying her Alchemist beliefs. I wanted more guilt from that turmoil. Even with that, there still at least an element of personal growth for Sydney around accepting being around dhampirs and moroi.
Brayden is so boring omg.
I would have liked more subtlety from the Trey plot twist. I knew that was coming from so many hints dropped. It was obvious.

I’m well aware that this isn’t a five star book but I love it to bits so five stars it gets :)
And I just love Sydney and Adrian so much

SO MUCH ACTION!! LOVED THE SCENES BETWEEN ADRIAN AND SYDNEY!!
I love this. I loved it as much as the first one and I'm dying for the next. Oh Mead why can you not write faster :P But I will wait! It'll be worth the wait. But honestly, I'm desperate to read it. This was great with mystery and action and clever plot twists all the way through. There wasn't a boring moment, and I liked the recap at the beginning. Hehe, it seems Mead is the only person able to entertain me during a recap rather than bore me. But despite the cute moment at the end of the last book between Adrian and Sydney, I really was still unsure of how they could be together.
But it's kind of like VA, the relationship between these two will be equally as difficult because Sydney has her own demons to face, even if Adrian finds himself already in love with her. At the end, despite both of them being broken hearted, I get the feeling that Adrian still has that little bit more to go. GAH! what am I crapping on about? Okay, let me try again. Obviously it's not going to be a smooth ride for either of them. One, because Sydney's an Alchemist, and two, even if Adrian thinks he's getting more mature, he still has a long way to go before he's perfect for Sydney. I really can't wait to see how this turns out. This is probably (this and VA) are probably the only novels I'd be willing to go through all the drama for a romance, I guess maybe it's because it's one of the only series that places just as much importance on 'action' as it does love.
SIGHHHH it took me so long to get this from the library and it was finished soooooo soon. I can't understand this, I just want The Indigo Spell right now!

"None of us are meant to be or do anything," he said. "We decide what we're going to be. You told me once that there are no victims here, that we have all the power to choose what we want."
Yesssss! First things first- Adrian and Sydney. I don't care if this is a shitty book, I don't care if Sydney can't wrap her mind around a relationship with a vampire. I still ship them. I mean, they have to realise how perfect they are for each other. And that kissssssss<3
Anyway, Golden Lily by Richelle Mead was a promising sequel to Bloodlines, and was more or less predictable. Sydney suddenly finds herself trapped between what she has always believed in- that vampires and humans were separate races and their could be no pleasant interactions between them, and the only friends she had, who were, naturally, vampires. She also faces another threat, the Warriors of Light. Once kin to the Alchemists, they were an organisation that strove to drive vampires into extinction- Moroi and Strigoi alike.
This is the story of Sydney Sage, as she learns what is right and what is wrong, and begins to questino everything she thought she knew.
3.5 stars
