EDIT: if you’re reading this book for spice don’t bother- nothing truly spicy (with mutual consent anyway- yes you read that correctly) happens until book 5. However the world-building did hook me into the series, so I will raise my original score by 1 star
Mac is cringe, Barron has the personality of a stale ham sandwich, and I’ve seen more passion between 2 squirrels outside my window than I did between the two MCs. My 2 stars account for the world building, but unfortunately even that could not save my opinion of this book.

Darkfever was a fantastic start to a wonderful series. I highly recommend. Once you start this book you won't stop until you finish the entire series. I think that was the hardest part for me waiting for the next book to come out. Awesome mix of fantasy, romance & danger!!!!
Interesting plot, but a little much to keep track of with all the new types of creatures and parts of the hidden societies. The FMC was... back and forth; whinny/terrifie and determined for justice.. even when it was almost for certain that she would die like a blundering idiot. The MMC was just a dink. His only redeeming quality was his hotness. He was all broody and insulting. He kept sending her out to get killed or almost raped, not a care. Sometimes he showed up in the nick of time, but still made it clear he didn't care what happened to her. He just needed her for his mysterious purposes. I really wanted to like it, but just couldn't get into it.
Reread after having originally read it when first published, more years ago than I like to think about
Fun time revisiting my first fictional faerie obsession
Parts have aged better than others, and the ‘vintage’ references to things like iPods and wishing for disposable cameras are a blast from the past
Looking forward to rereading and then finishing this series throughout the year

This book was still interesting as a reread. I'm curious to see how I feel about the series as I continue to read through.
This is like the first round before the weird story starts coming out.

I just finished re-reading Darkfever in preparation for the 5th and final installment of the series, due out on January 18th. It was just as good a read the second time around if not better. Whereas the first time I was hooked by the intriguing characters and mythos, the second time I was searching for answers. Each of the books in the Fever series has a cliffhanger. I literally threw Faefever , the third book in the series, across the room at the end. Waiting a year for the next installment made me crazy. Now, I know all my questions are about to be answered. I am so excited for the last book, yet sad because the journey will have come to an end. This series is truly a fun ride that keeps you guessing. It is very well-written with great humor and suspense and well-developed characters. Going back to the beginning has made me realize just how far the characters have come over the last four books. Ok. Enough of waxing poetic. I have Bloodfever to read. :)
slow-paced
Loved the story hated the main characters.
I loved the world the author has built and the mythology of the fae. It is well written and grips you from the very beginning. I would have given 4 stars if not for the main characters.
Jericho barrons : I had heard so much about you and you disappointed me completely. How is a condescending, pretentious abusive asshole considered romantic? Threats and intimidation are not at all attractive in my book.
Mackayla: I liked her narration but she is annoying and acts like a princess all the time. I was tired reading about her outfit choices every second page. She believes catcalling is the sign that she is beautiful last i checked it counted as sexual harassment. And lastly how did she turn into a killing machine from a useless damsel in distress in five second flat? I think i am going to develop a love/hate relationship with this series.

There are really only two positions one can take toward anything in life: hope or fear. Hope strengthens, fear kills."
I read all 7 of these and enjoyed them even if they got a bit sappy at the end there.
