MORE? MORE! @ P.S. I love that book!

THE WORLD: So from the first glance the world is pretty much how we know it. Only later we find out that it is actually full of Fae. Basically we have good and bad Fae and bad Fae are getting out of their prison and into our world. Also, besides Fae there are other things living in the dark tho they are not fully identified just yet. I must say, I love Fae and I really liked the way this world was built. The good and bad fae is really close to how I imagine them and frankly how Charlaine Harris set them in my head. So thumbs up for the world!

CHARACTERS: This is where my problems start. So the main character is named Mac which is shorter of MacKayla (luwing the name) and well...she is not what I would really love for this role. In the beginning of the book she was really fun but then she sorta gets dragged into this fae world and that is alright except that she does whatever she is told and that I very much did not like. My hopes are that in next book she gets better. Then next to Mac we have a male. And when I say male I mean very male. Jericko is a mysterious man who loves to underline his masculinity. Another thing he loves is to boss around Mac. So obviously I disliked him very much. For me it kinda felt like the author was trying to create another Eric (True Blood) but where Charlaine Harris created something awesome and legendary Karen Marie Moning ended up having a sorta over masculine joke for her main male. So yeah, that is that. But I did hear that it gets better so fingers crossed.

LOVE: Weird. There is no true love going on in this book so far. Many sex scenes and just weird sex god fae that create well weird impression...just saying.

PLUS: FAE!

MINUS: The characters felt very unrealistic for me. I guess after reading Sookie I have kinda different expectations than normally but still.

OVERALL: So I did not love this book but I will read the next in the series and then I am going to decide if I continue with the series or just stop for good.

[2022] Shorter than I expected/remembered. I wonder if I wrote this review after reading the next? Either way I stand by my original thoughts. The dated fashion and tech did pull me from it occasionally but it is what it is. There’s a certain charm to it, or at the very least you can look past it.

[2019] Bingeable and fast paced. There were a bunch of little things, like the dated fashion descriptions, that in another book would really irk me, but because it was so easy and fun to read made them just minor blemishes on my enjoyment. Its a book you can’t take too too serious, but still manages to keep you engaged and worried for the characters. There is still so much of the world unexplained that I’m definitely interested in learning more by continuing on.

Very different than what I normally read!
First Fae book I've read,so far so good!
Could have a bit more sexual nature to it tho:) but that's just me I like sex in my books:) lol

I thought it was ok. I don't really love the main character, she's pretty annoying. I did like her character development throughout so maybe this will change a bit. I am interested in Jericho and what secrets he is hiding. I really like the world and the world building was great. This is what makes me want to keep reading. I am definitely interested in seeing what happens.

a dumb blonde goes on an poorly planned euro trip and ends up murdering fairies and also being weirdly seduced by one of them in a museum, and it’s only been a few weeks! my study abroad experience was not like this and I’m sorely disappointed

This series is just great. I enjoyed this book a lot more on the second read - though I did like it quite a bit on the first. Poor Mac just lost her sister and refuses to believe there are no answers to her murder after receiving a cryptic phone message on the night of her death. She travels to Dublin to investigate and encounters one strange thing after another.

Even though Mac downplays it from the beginning taking the journey takes some serious courage and while she stumbles along. She seems to have a ridiculously idyllic life back in Georgia (I think she must be romanticizing it just a bit) and is obsessed with rainbows and nail polish - but that just makes it more entertaining to see her attitudes change as her life unravels before her eyes. I love that she knows when to step back and listen and when to take charge.

The fae in this series are nasty, powerful, and creepy as hell. Even the "good" guys come with freaky power.

I also like that while there are some romantic elements that is not the focus of this book.

Not sure I understand the hype of this book series yet. It was a fine read, but nowhere close to the best fantasy romance.
