I adore a good fantastical book. This one enters that genre with a dash of romance thrown into the mix and hits the nail on the head. The writing is fine and over time the characters are developed more. If you are looking for a title that will become a 'classic', this probably isn't it. However, it is a fun read and will have you waiting for more.

Mac is devastated over the death of her sister. She travels to Ireland determined to find who is responsible for it. Only, she finds more questions about who she and her sister are compared to the answers she seeks.

Soon she discovers she is not a mere mortal, but a sidhe-seer who can see the Fae who walk among us. Not only that, she can detect the Sinsar Dubh, a dark book being sought by many including the owner of a bookstore, Jericho.

This series holds a special place. It’s worth the read and all the rereads after.

Such a fun, interesting read! It's a much different take on the paranormal than I've typically seen. I truly love how Moning didn't create the 'perfect' main female character. She's shallow, naive, a bit selfish, and in her own little world of denial even as her world is changing around her. Having already read the entire series once, I love how much she grows and changes. This whole world if fascinating and I know I'll be re-reading this series for years to come.

Fever Series #1
Mackayla Lane is the heroine in the series. She goes to Ireland when her sister disappears, to investigate her disappearance. She meets Barron, a mysterious, seductive book store owner, who isn't what he seems to be. The entire series delves into Mac learning she has to find this faery items; that faeries (good and bad) are in our world always.
She also begins a relationship with Barron that isn't always pleasant. She needs his help and he needs hers, but they fight one another until they finally begin a love affair, although an unorthodox one. He's immortal.
Pretty good series, overall, but somewhat repetitive...didn't really need to be so many books.

Great world building! I was diappointed that there wasn't a love interest but I got over it. I love books with women who kick a**. It took awhile for her to do it but I hope the rest of the books in the series deliver.
adventurous dark mysterious fast-paced
Plot or Character Driven: A mix
Strong character development: Complicated
Flaws of characters a main focus: No

Enjoyed reading this. Mac has similar vibes to Buffy as a main character (similar, not same).

Intriguing story but feels unfinished at the end... Will definitely have to continue reading the series.

It took me awhile to get into this book, but I got to the point where I didn't want it to end. I'm excited to read the next one in the series.

There's so much that happens but at the same time nothing gets "wrapped up" in the end. I don't know...it was entertaining but there were some problematic scenes that made me uncomfortable.

I like the worldbuilding here. The character is a little annoying, but that isn't anything I haven't encountered before in a long series. Usually by book 3 or 4 they are far more tolerable.

The book was fairly fast paced, though it lagged whenever Mac and Barrons started to bicker.

But UGH! that ending. No big secrets were revealed and no big problems were solved. Thank god I have the second book ready to go or I might get annoyed, move on to something else and never come back.
