'A World of Spooky Stories' by Angela McAllister with illustrations by Madalina Andronic is a collection of creepy stories from around the world.

The collection is sorted by location with sections like Enchanted Places, Frozen Lands and Graveyard. The stories come from all over the globe. Many were familiar to me, but many were not. The stories all range from one to three pages, so it's a nice collection to pick up an read a story or two from.

I liked the stories and illustrations in this collection. This would make a nice gift book for a young reader who likes ghost stories.

I received a review copy of this ebook from Quarto Publishing Group - Frances Lincoln Childrens, and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you for allowing me to review this ebook.

They said spooky and they weren't kidding! I knew a few of these stories, but not most of them. A couple were properly creepy. My favourite is Herne the Hunter, but there's plenty of others here for all tastes. The illustrations are more cartoony than creepy, but they add to the book and it's a very attractive package. I'm looking forward to selling this one this Hallowe'en!

A fantastic collection.

Pretty good stories with beautiful illustrations throughout. I would have appreciated a slightly more even/balanced distribution of locations though, as it was very Europe-centric (26). Could have done with more than the 2 stories from Latin America (Brazil & Chile) and the 3 from Africa (Egypt x2 & "West Africa" ?) to really feel like a collection from "around the world." I would definitely still check out the other collections from this line of books.

Picked this book up on a whim for my kid who loves spooky, creepy, gross stories and also loves two similar around-the-world story collections we have. She found it delightful.

Second year in a row cracking this one out for spooky season bedtimes. Beatrix both fears and delights in "The Elder Tree Witch." <3

With a title "A World of Spooky Stories, 50 Tales to Make Your Spine Tingle", we were expecting more than a collection of summarized fairytales and world legends. Our spines did not tingle.  A few of the tales were interesting, but none gave us spooky vibes.

Disclaimer: I received this book in exchange for my review from NetGallery.

This collection of spooky stories has a wide range of really creepy to classics we all know to mildly spooky. I think a child could really find a story for any spooky mood. I really enjoyed the illustration style as it gave just enough detail to the story without overwhelming the reader's ability to imagine the rest. I enjoyed the mixture of stories from different cultures and seeing stories I had never heard of before. I only wish that some of the stories were a bit longer and more detailed. I was left wanting more.
