A fun collection of spooky tales and folklore that are suitable for children. Each story is a good length, not too long and comes with beautiful illustrations that accompany each story perfectly.a really wonderful range of tales from around the world, meaning it’s entertaining and educational. Recommended.

So fun!!! I would have loved even more diversity in the tales. Love the illustrations and was perfect for bedtime for my 5 and 7 year-olds (who love scary stories).

This book wasn't quite what I expected. I suppose if I would've read the synopsis in more detail, I would've known it wasn't the author writing these stories, rather the translation of stories from all over the world. A few of the stories like Hansel and Gretel and Little Red Riding Hood, I know well and grew up on. The others not so much. It was fun to read stories I've never heard from different parts of the country. I wouldn't call them "spooky," its more of a collection of fairy tale type stories than actual scary stories for kids. Nothing was over-the-top and if your child is a fan of fairy tales, they'll certainly love these.

Get a taste of the spooky stories from around the world in this delightful little book! It was a great little read, and my boys enjoyed the stories from all over the world that have been giving little kids chills for decades.

This is a surprisingly fun read even for an adult. I am curious about magical fairy tales and this particular book contains many of them from all over the world, most of which I have never heard before. These enchanting stories are decorated with beautiful illustrations. The stories are told as they appear in the original versions, unembellished and they are not changed to end with a happy ending. They are what they are and I liked the simplistic way they are written. Even though the title of the book implies spookiness, not all of the stories are spooky or Halloween-material but they are diverse in content. I would definitely read them to children and I would enjoy the book just as much as them.

I'm a sucker for folktales, and there are some really great ones here! Some are actually spooky but others really aren't. I also enjoy the illustrations - the style is not one I usually enjoy, but it works so well here.

I received an arc of this book on netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
This one was pretty cool. I liked most of the stories, and they are ''spooky'' enough for readers to enjoy, but they aren't super scary, which I appreciate. It was great that they were stories from around the world, and some of the more unusual ones at that, to give readers the opportunity to read tales from Asia, Australia, and South America among other places.

I was expecting more of a children's picture book of stories, but this is laid out in an odd way. It's more of a standard book with some small illustrations, but the text is so small, it's difficult to read, and the illustrations are not my cup of tea at all.
On top of that, these aren't spooky stories. These are fairytales, some slightly dark, but mostly not even remotely horror-related. If you'd handed my horror-loving self this book as a kid, I would've been incredibly let-down.
Thank you so much to the publisher for providing me with this ARC in exchange for an honest review!
