I'm so glad I dedicated the time to reading this series this year. They came at a time of transition in my life, and the strong heroines of these novels inspire me to continue to do my best work. The dedication, yet again, tugs at my heartstrings and sets the tone for these moving books:
To those who get up every morning and face the struggle of the day.
My Name is Parvana begins with Parvana in prison, after the American military found her outside the school she and her family had built. The military officials assumed she had taken part in the bombing and took her into custody as a terrorist. The story unfolds as Parvana talks in the current day about her thoughts and experiences within the prison, while also flashing back to what led her there.
Overall, it was a moving story, and I read it quickly, needing to know what would happen next. Parvana, Shauzia, Asif, Mrs. Weera, and many others mentioned are characters that will stick with me for years to come.

By reading this book, my eighth grade dreams have been realized.
My heart. A perfect, but heart wrenching, conclusion to this stunning series.
A pretty solid end to the series. Though I did find it strange that this book, which is longer and written in more complex language than the earlier ones, was somehow a simpler story told in black and white (where the earlier books had all these lovely, thought-provoking shades of gray). This book does, however, have a fantastically delicious [b:Jacob Have I Loved|337058|Jacob Have I Loved|Katherine Paterson|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1388254908s/337058.jpg|1379592] slathering-lotion-on-hands moment between Parvana and her older sister Nooria.
