The book was a 3.5 near the end when they got together is when I really started to enjoy the book a little more.

A 3 star may be generous. This book felt like a CHORE to finish. Thr first 200 pages and thr last 100 felt like 2 totally different books. At first it felt like it was going no where, and then it was going everywhere all at once. From not enough to all to much.

I think I liked Emily and bambelby (oh what a name) but I liked the townsfolk more. Not that I could remember who was who half the time.

Shadow and Poe were evidently my favorite characters (and they barely even had rolls).

The whole tree and king plot? That's when I think I started to truely lose my mind.

4.5 stars. Loved this book. Emily was a very relatable character for me and Wendell was adorable in a Howl-esque way. The Icelandic like setting was perfect for a winter read and at times I even laughed out loud at the journal’s banter. Really looking forward to book 2.
