Affirming and makes you feel heard and encouraged. Unfortunately quotes and recommends a decent amount of junk science. Helpful but read with a large grain of salt.

I don't know if it is because I have no personal experience with CNs or because I am used to listening to books written by researchers, but this book felt like it was missing something to me.

I understand that it can be a valuable resource for people who have been in relationships with narcissistic people, but I found that the book contained many statements without proper 'authority'. I read this book out of academic curiosity and I find that I haven't learned much. Most of this book is anecdotes and validation for (and a lot of assumptions about) the reader. I found myself wondering how the author is so sure that the reason for 'that specific event' was a relationship with a CN partner. I know such situations come with many patterns, and are at least partially predictable, but for some readers, these encouragements can just end up being empty validation and lead them in the wrong way.

I have read/listened to many books about social/psychological subjects written by professionals, and I can say that I can feel the difference. Even if there are anecdotes in such books, they come with scientific research and reasoning. This book felt like it was written by a supportive friend, rather than an expert. Maybe this was what was intended, but it wasn't for my taste.
