It had a very slow start, but the story definitely picked up and became very interesting. Although I don't feel like the book was really resolved which is irritating.

This is where it all went downhill for me.. I loved them all until this one. I just could NOT get through it. The characters 'turned' on me, and I haven't found a Scarpetta book since that has held my attention, and that I've read cover-to-cover since.

Man, this book started slow for me, like I knew Kay was going through it after last book, but the beginning of this one was slooww! BUT in true Patricia Cornwell fashion, once it started to pick up you were catapulted in a high speed roller coaster all of the way to the end!🤯 woof!! I miss Benton, his lack of presence stung the worse in this book, and finding out all that he had to deal with before he died!? Ugh. So awful! Overall this was a good book! I love her writing, I love these characters and am so glad there are so many books!!

adventurous dark mysterious medium-paced

This book continues right were tha last one left off. This one still suffers from the bad mood and tenseness of the characters. Altough the mood is understandable, the interactions and hardhness gets annoying. Alone Anna seems to be a little nicer.
The storyline is still very convoluted and implausible. That being said, I enjoyed the second half of the book way more than the first.
