Unsure how to review this tbh, it's pretty mind-boggling. Enjoyed the setting and the MC, did get a bit unnerved towards the end which I suppose is the intent! I think this genre is just not for me, it's hard for me to fully appreciate or grasp lol. I can see why people love it but I finished it thinking wow! That was unpleasant. Not great for a gal who reads for escapism. Very very cleverly written though!

I devoured this. Bunny is unhinged and fucked up but I reveled in its fucked up ness. It's a standout with how absurd, funny yet so horrifying at times it got a little overwhelming. It's so so weird. Experimental. It's horror is laced with black comedy with rightful criticism about the pretensiousness of academia. Really layered with genius at the bottom (I found myself taking notes of all my observations). An incredibly well done blend of dark fairytale horror in dark academia in the modern context with satire. Unlike anything I've read before. Read this just for the reading experience.

Genuinely not a clue what to rank this. Not a clue what I just read either. I have so many questions and I’m not entirely sure whether I got the answers or not. My head sort of hurts. I don’t know if this counts as magical realism or if everyone was just super high? I’m also not sure whether it was actually skilful, or just gripping because of how insanely bonkers it was. I feel it was a bit too in your face with the satire, but I didn’t mind too much because everything else almost balanced it out.

Well…..that was definitely……a book lol.

I can’t really explain this book or my feelings on it, but I feel like there is definitely some commentary in here on loneliness and isolation, and the lengths our brain will go to help us cope with these feelings, especially when we look at Samantha and Ava’s friendship. Honestly, I think I might have enjoyed forming my own/reading other people’s interpretations of this book more than I enjoyed reading the book itself.

I do wish we got to spend some more time inside the bunny cult though. Their hive mind dynamic, weird hybrid rituals, and how desensitized they were to all of it were the most interesting parts of the book, and it feels like we spent a criminally short amount of time with them in that space.
