I honestly didn't expect to like Critical Failures when I picked up the first book, but I ended up reading the first three books in the series in just over 24 hours so I guess I was wrong.

Really funny. But sometimes the recurring character flaws annoy you rather than make you laugh.

What it's about: Finally back in the "real" world, the characters seek out the man who sent them into the game. It's a lot trickier than they thought it would be, not helped by dueling vampires, pedophile police, and the fact that none of them are in their own bodies.

What I thought: Meh.

Why I rated it like I did: If you're going to make your characters unlikable, they need to at least learn from their mistakes. But instead, these bozos just keep screwin' up, and screwin' up, and not a lick of character growth can be seen.

Personal thoughts?
I enjoyed it from start to finish. If you can't see that Bevan is insulting the country bumpkins, I can't help you there. Yes, this is raunchy humor. Sadly, I've met characters like that. Overall, it comes off all the -ists you can come up with, but Bevan is insulting the low intelligent American. He was bound to strike a ton of nerves. I believe Bevan is an intelligent writer and he knew what he wrote. It is fictional and if you find everything offensive, this book and series isn't for you. It contains crude humor but sadly, if you live in a red state, you're going to hear people say those things among each other. Yes, I enjoyed this book and loved it more than the other two. I will continue to read this series. It's one of those books and series that give you a guilty pleasure. Thanks, Bevan. Please, continue to write.
