I've always found this book a little twee. But it's well written and has funny moments.
My mama always told me that if I can't think of something nice to say, don't say anything at all. That's the policy I'm going to adopt with this book...
This book was very much not for me. I thrifted it, curious to know the story after hearing so many people love the movie adaptation.
I have so many complaints with this book, but I'll just say having read it in 2023, it didn't age well..
I'm not going to give this any stars because honestly I would give it negative stars if I could.

I really liked this book. It had such colorful characters
Changing my review because, though I kinda liked that there was no real plot and the content was so ludicrous I laughed out loud more than once, more people should not read this book
what an entirely unexpected book... in some ways a product of its time and, in others, revolutionary
First read this book when it came out (and I was in my 30s). Loved it then for it's gently humorous portrait of a small town, and it's picture of a love affair between two women. Re-reading it I saw something different -- a story of an older woman coming to terms with middle age, and an older woman's grace in aging. Truly wonderful book
3.5 stars! I can see why some people adore this book, but it just didn't enchant me that much personally. It was GOOD, just not the best thing I've read, hence the rating. Still worth giving a shot
