i LOVED firekeeper’s daughter so i had v high hopes for this one and i was not disappointed. perry is an incredibly lovable mc, the relationships she has are so fleshed out, and the plot is just enough to keep you on edge. i do think it took a little longer to get started on the action, but the set up is important and still engaging. can’t wait to go back and reread the first one and then probably this one again to pick up on all the connections. so so so good

Warrior girl unearthed takes place 10 years after Firekeeper's Daughter (which I absolutely loved). Unfortunately this book had too many things going on and too many character  doing things. at one point I lost interest in it, which is sad because it tries to tackle important topics and issues such as NAGPRA and missing and murdered indigenous women. Overall a good book and recommended but I gave Firekeeper's Daughter 5 stars so my expectation was maybe a little too high

I really enjoyed the journey of this novel, and the tension it highlighted between doing things by the book and seeking justice outside of how things are expected to be done. Like the first book, it manages to cover a lot of ground in a relatively short story.

If I had to critique anything, I'd say the character of Eric felt a bit underdeveloped. I think his background of being a self-identified 'white hat' ethical hacker could have been a jumping off point to include his journey more into the morality vs legality themes of the novel
