A meta book that explores all the codes of the whodunit genre. A (guilty?) pleasure, and well-written.

I enjoyed this nod to Agatha Christie's [b:And Then There Were None|16299|And Then There Were None|Agatha Christie|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1638425885l/16299._SY75_.jpg|3038872]. I thought the nicknames of the members of the University's golden age of mystery writers was a fun element.

I enjoyed the mystery, although I was surprised that the author let readers know the identity of the murderer from the get go, if only by his nickname. The story continued to interest me, though, because I was along for the ride, wondering who would be killed off next and what connection the killer had to a previous mystery club member.

I had trouble with the author's writing style. It seemed to be simplistic and stilted. I'm not sure if this is a result of the translation, a cultural writing preference, or it was just the author's writing style.

I wouldn't be averse to reading more mysteries from this author but they wouldn't be at the top of my list.

Decided that I love this genre and will actually finally start reading Agatha Christie. Twisty and turny and so so gripping (loses a star for the writing style tho)

I found this a better read than The Tokyo Zodiac Murders (incidentally the introduction was written by Soji Shimada, who wrote the Tokyo Zodiac Murders) but I think I am done with Japanese murder mysteries for a while now.

A very fun engagement with the murder mystery genre (albeit with a very straightforward writing style), that one line reveal was cracking!

Good mystery. Intriguing characters. Simple but elaborate plot.

A great mystery, but I absolutely cannot recommend the audio version by Tantor Audio.
