Giallo ben scritto e costruito intorno ad un' ipotesi particolare. Per qualche strana ragione avevo intuito il colpevole dall'inizio, ma è stato un caso. Il finale però, non mi è piaciuto molto. Comunque era più facile scrivere i gialli prima dell' avvento dei telefoni cellulari....

I'm at an absolute loss for words. this mystery is masterfully constructed; even the final sentence, after the reveal, had me gasping aloud and throwing my poor book across the room. the case is multi-layered, with lots of interesting key players, but the story doesn't feel heavy. often, it's actually quite upbeat, sometimes even funny in a way that connects us strongly to the main characters. the writing (translation?) style makes for a super easy read; I finished most of this in a single sitting.

Suffered from reading this in close proximity to And Then There Were None - comparison is the thief of joy and all that. So much of why I enjoyed that novel was unrelated to its central puzzle: Christie has such a head for tension, for tight character work, that Decagon felt mostly lifeless in comparison. The characters are thin and nigh-indistinguishable, and I was less engaged in the plot than I was interested in blasting through to get some answers. The sole satisfaction to be found here is in watching all the puzzle pieces fall into place. It's a cool enough puzzle, and I got a kick of the big reveal, but I needed something more here.

INCREDIBLE MYSTERY! Kept me guessing until the end, different perspectives from opposite sides of the story were super insightful and made me think. A lovely murder mystery without too much gore.
