This score is just from personal feelings.

I'm not really into this genre. I'm a character driven reader and this kind of story do not offer much development in this area.

Nonetheless, I liked the plot twists and the general flow and construction of the book.

Possibly Christie's most famous novel. I've read it many times; still interesting to see how cleverly the plot unfolds.

Reread May 2024: this story is so famous now that it's easy to take it for granted. But reading it again, I am struck anew at how truly original this idea was at the time. Totally unexpected. Christie was the master.

I honestly don't think I will ever not love this! I've seen several adaptations of this and I realized I had never read it so I decided I needed to fix that.

And boy did it not disappoint! I love this book! Even though I knew the ending, it did not take away from how well plotted and paced the story actually is. I love the incredibly complicated backstories that Christie develops for each individual character and how well they all go together to create a story as a whole

I quite enjoyed Branagh's narration and all the accents and voices he conjured. It made the monotony of my road trip much more entertaining. I had picked up the ebook of this previously and put it down about halfway through because I just didn't find it that entertaining, but Branagh breathed a new life into it. This was the first Agatha Christie mystery and Poirot novel I've read, and I enjoyed it. I didn't know the twist going into it, but I was able to figure it out once it's revealed that
all of the passengers on the train are entangled in the Daisy Armstrong case
. The story takes a while to get going (probably why I put it down before), but once it starts twisting and turning, things get interesting. Maybe I'll give Death on the Nile a shot.

The older language in this book made it a little harder to understand but overall was a pretty good read. A bit boring at times but the ending made up for it.
