I enjoyed the set up and the payoff, but I would've liked a little more build up to the identities of some of the passengers. Poirot just guesses and is right; it didn't feel like I as the reader had the pieces to put some of these things together myself, which is really what I love about a good mystery.
4 stars. Loved this one. I’ve wanted to watch the recent film adaptation but decided that I should read the book first and I think that was the best way to go about it. This was so much fun. Agatha Christie was known as the ‘Queen of Mystery’ for a reason. Her writing is so incredibly atmospheric and the suspense is well done. I loved following along as Hercule pieced things together and finally identify the killer (who I didn’t guess by the way. That’s always great). The pacing is great and steady and the mystery is a fun ride. I definitely plan on starting this series from the beginning because I enjoyed this one so much. I’m looking forward to reading more by Agatha Christie.

The mind of Agatha Christie fascinates and boggles me, simply in how she had to come up with this case and the various twists and turns it took. That, in of itself, is quite a feat.
As for the story and characters, I did enjoy it for what it was, but the whole wordy nature of Poriot especially the huge reveal itself toward the ending I found rather uninteresting and long in parts.
So there bits I didn't like, but overall I can say I enjoyed the ride.
Also shoutout to listening to it on audiobook narrated by none other than Kenneth Branagh, himself. A sheer delight it was.

What truly made this for the ending. Absolutely mind-blowing. And the two-solutions thing was genius.

I wanted to try some Agatha Christie, and I was pleasantly surprised! This book was so well written. A great mystery that I would even recommend to people that do not read.
really fun! I enjoyed not having to deal with world building and just enjoy a snappy mystery, I understand why it's so famous. I was often distracted/too interested in what the writing/characterization of things revealed about interwar America. history! lol
