definitely worth the read for a good mystery!! it totally kept me guessing about who was really behind everything right up until the end, where i ended up figuring it out with a total "...woah" moment just before the reveal. so well written, a fun main character, and an AWESOME concept
The first half is rather dull and insanely repetitive. The second half is a bit convoluted and the plot twist is fine, but rather predictable. Still an enjoyable airport read.
This was fine. If you’ve never read a thriller in your life it might be better than fine, but the twist was so insanely predictable. The premise and story is super interesting for sure. I do find it a little more difficult to connect with characters when I’m reading in third person rather than first or second, though. It took a while to get to the point and by that time I already knew the ending long before then. Just average for me.

Whoa. What a story. If there is going to be a book-within-a-book that is a best seller, it needs to be good. And Korelitz delivered. To be honest, I was a little more invested in the book-within-a-book than the actual book, but it was still entertaining. The characters are not very likable, and the pacing does drag a bit at times, but watching the mystery unravel and having that final realization in real time is such a cool experience. I felt like it only worked because some important information was withheld from the reader (if Jake’s book reflected the actual story, why did he not immediately predict that Rose was actually her mother?) , but all in all, I still really enjoyed this read.
A lot of mixed reviews on the book here. Maybe it is because I don't read mystery/thrillers often, so I was completely surprised by the book. I enjoyed it and found myself thinking about it throughout the day!
