So far I am enjoying this book. It takes place during the summers in Tuscany Italy, perfect for dark dreary winters. It took a little to get into but now moving pretty quickly.
Food, wine, and scenery porn, nicely written. Loved the movie, which is loosely based on the book. She meandered a little bit in there, but all in all, I enjoyed. Checking out some of her other books to continue traveling on my pillow.
A woman and her boyfriend buy a house and renovate it. If this sounds like an interesting plot to you, you should read Under The Tuscan Sun. If not, don't bother. The one star is for the pretty writing and the recipes, but it is not enough to make this "story"interesting.
My first ever DNF. Definitely not what I expected. You can tell she’s a talented writer, but I just couldn’t continue to read about the renovations (boring) and certainly couldn’t sympathize with her problems associated with her Italian SUMMER HOME
One of the few times I can say that the movie was much, much better than the book. I found the main character of the book to be shallow, self-absorbed, self-pitying, etc. And she never gets over it. She is blind to the world around her; doesn't experience what there is to see in her new home in beautiful Tuscany because she's so self-absorbed.
The movie is nothing like that. Is the subject matter of this books seems appealing on the surface (not what I've written, but the main story of the book), then watch the movie instead and skip the book.

I picked this book up used, maybe at a library book sale, because I liked the movie that is based on it. Ha! The movie is so loosely based on the author's experiences as to have been wholly fabricated fiction! Interesting read.
I read this many years ago I think the movie is cute, but the book is so much better.
I really enjoyed this book mainly because I read it while I was in Italy :)
Sadly, not as good as I'd expected. And absolutely nothing like the movie. Though, if they'd made the movie like the book it would have been a travelogue.
