I had the good fortune of meeting Damon Suede at the LIRW luncheon, his keynote was inspiring to writers and non-writers alike. As a gift to the audience, I received Hot Head. Homoerotic literature is not my usual go to, but I couldn't put this book down. As a first responder, married to a 9-11 first responder, I am nervous reading fictional portrayals of firefighters and EMS providers. Damon's sensitivity was impeccable. His portrayals of calls were spot on. But it was the love story between lead characters, Griff and Dante that left me laughing, loving, crying, cheering and turned on.

Booring. Fanfiction like writing. Werid descriptions like comparing a mouth and penis to medium-rare meat in color.
In my opinion it also gave mysoginy as the only women were either: fuckable, fat, hysterical/dramatic, gay or his mother.
Also it kinda glorifies a terror attack.
Also it uses terminologi That’s quite outdated today and it was uncomfortable to read.

It was boring, read like a fanfic from 15 years ago, and it’s basically copaganda. This didn’t age well. This is for older millennials/gen x who still glorify 9/11.
Graphic: Alcohol, Gaslighting, Homophobia, and Injury/Injury detail

dork
swollen cannon
thick crank
piglet between your legs
i could go on but i’ll spare you. this was wildly graphic for a book that didn’t have that many sex scenes. hats off to the author for the creativity with the language usage?
wanted it to be a little more romantic. 2 seemingly straight dudes confess their love after doing porn together and after only 1 conversation about it seems a little far fetched imo. not the worst thing i’ve ever read and i def appreciate a MM romance written by a dude. but not a slam dunk for me.
also WAY too much use of the m-slur w/ regards to little people. this was written in 2011 but cmon.

4.5 stars.
The premise of this book is a little ridiculous, and that made me put it off for a while. Which is a shame because when I finally picked it up, I couldn't put it down again. The characters in this book are just beyond good. The love is so real and intimate and deep, and the sex is really f-ing hot. Like, REALLY. The first time they have penetrative sex, I nearly had a heart attack.
But mostly, Griff and Dante just fit each other. They're perfect for one another and you see that really early on. For as smutty as this book is (and it is VERY smutty) the romance is more real, more emotional, than I've seen in many other books.
There is one negative that I think is important to note: Some of the word choices are so ridiculously over-the-top that I couldn't help giggling. Penises referred to as clubs, meat, sausages, dorks, beer-can dicks, etc etc. BUT if you can just accept this as just dudes being dudes, then it's totally fine. It actually fit the characters, imo, and the relationship was so great that I could ignore it.
If you're looking for smut, this is for you.
And if you're looking for romance, it's still for you.
I would definitely read more if this were made into a series.
*I listened to this one on audiobook and I thought the narrator did a GREAT job, but there were a few editing mistakes in it. Small enough to ignore and I rec the audiobook.

Where to start! One of those books that has perfectly balanced story, growth, pewpew, and a new euphemism for jerking it in every chapter. I'm no good at writing reviews but I can definitely recommend this book to absolutely anyone (and believe me I've tried recommending this author along with Marie Sexton to straight guys too). I'm just surprised I didn't pick it up before - it's the kind of book that's sweet but not diabetic, engulfing enough to spasm over (literally, spasm) and real enough to be tangible. In fact, excuse me whilst I flip the table over how good it is.
