I liked this more than I expected! Really interesting blend of paganism and Puritanism. The plot is sort of predicable (Puritans… women exhibit independence… there is one conclusion) but with very surprising texture throughout. Will definitely add to my Halloween reads rotation.

Horrifying in both a fantasy aspect and historical considering what the real life women of Salem went through. I loved the mixture of vengeance and grief, monstrous and loving. Exactly what a heroine should be.

Perhaps it’s the fact that I haven’t yet read enough of books within the same genre, but Slewfoot is not like anything I’ve read before. It’s peculiar, yes, with just the right amount of horror to keep me going. Abitha is a gem! I support women’s rights (although such a thing doesn’t really exist in this book because of its context) but most importantly, I SUPPORT WOMEN’S WRONGS!
