cute, self-contained story! love the poe, rey, and rose dynamic. wish rose was up for adventure in The Rise of Skywalker like she is in this book, but I guess staying at base standing next to Leia and saying almost nothing is better than piloting a fucking walker and shooting down TIEs! thanks JJ!

This was a quick, cute read. Fun to watch Rey find her way through the Force a bit more.

I was going to buy this a month or so ago, but when I realized it was just a middle grade book I decided to hold off. It's just a short adventure with Rey, Poe and Rose, there isn't much connection to The Rise of Skywalker other than it taking place after The Last Jedi and the new movie.

okay this is an amazing audiobook! I didn't know that star wars books had special audio effects, it felt like i was listening to a movie! it was amazing to see more of Poe, Rose & Rey interacting! I loved the friendship between Rose & Rey... & TROS didn't show it at all. shame on this movie!

also, star wars is actually good, it's TROS that's trash :')

This book is so firmly placed between two movies that are at odds with each other that it doesn't have much room to breathe on its own. It was nice to have the core group together on an adventure, but the confines don't allow for much in the way of stakes.

I had a great chat with the author on a special episode of the All the Books Show. Give it a listen:

The First Orderer who gets flustered over Poe Dameron is iconic.

It is so good to have a story about these characters.

It took me awhile to try this one, primarily because I don't love Rey the same way I do Leia. I wasn't sure I would stick with this book. However, I really love Justine Ireland's writing and Glenna Kip's character in particular. Spiftz is a fun little toady to hate and I kind of love the rixon. There should be more giant bunnies in the world anyway.

Good book to escape into for awhile.

Spark of Resistance is a great side story that takes place shortly after The Last Jedi. This is a book geared toward junior readers, but features our main heroes of the sequel trilogy on an adventure together. The characters are written well and the story is good too. This book does a nice job of showing what life in the Resistance can be like. I really enjoyed this one.
