It is so good to have a story about these characters.

It took me awhile to try this one, primarily because I don't love Rey the same way I do Leia. I wasn't sure I would stick with this book. However, I really love Justine Ireland's writing and Glenna Kip's character in particular. Spiftz is a fun little toady to hate and I kind of love the rixon. There should be more giant bunnies in the world anyway.

Good book to escape into for awhile.

Spark of Resistance is a great side story that takes place shortly after The Last Jedi. This is a book geared toward junior readers, but features our main heroes of the sequel trilogy on an adventure together. The characters are written well and the story is good too. This book does a nice job of showing what life in the Resistance can be like. I really enjoyed this one.

4.5 / 5 While this book was obviously directed towards a younger audience, I loved having a story that centered on Rey, Poe, and Rose and I can’t wait to see how it ties into The Rise of Skywalker!

For me this book was just fun. It didn't need a super special unique villain, it didn't need a complicated plot. Because it had the one thing the movies have been lacking and that's the main characters interacting as people.

Rose and Rey teasing Poe, the three of them learning about each other, just cute moments that show character. It made the book so enjoyable for me.

There's nothing wrong with a straightforward plot, the world and creatures are something new, the interactions are like an oasis.

A quick and fun read that made me ache a bit for the lack of Rose Tico in TROS, but overall a good little romp. Poe's hair is mentioned as one of his defining features, which is always entertaining. Also, no Kylo Ren making apperances, so I am good with that.

This book is written at a middle grades level, but people should read it for two reasons:
1) Porgs!
2) Poe Dameron’s amazing hair is a running joke

I am a little worried about the impending ecological Porg-Catastrophe of all the porgs getting left behind at every planet where the Millennium Falcon stops, though.

This is a fun middle grade novel that covers the rebuilding of the resistance before The Rise of Skywalker. It’s always exciting to learn about new planets and creatures in the Star Wars universe, especially because it makes you realize how important the fight against the First Order really is. Definitely a quick read, and while I don’t expect it to impact the story line of episode 9, it’s still fun to fill in the blanks between movies.

Rounded up to 3 stars for GR review, but honestly this is closer to 2.5 stars on enjoyment. A pretty standard junior Star Wars novel - writing is very simple, it's very tell-not-show and the plot is pretty generic. The only standout things were some nice interactions between Rose and Rey (f in the chat for those Rose/Rey scenes that never made it into TROS) and this author's understandable thirst for Poe Dameron that slips into some of the descriptions. At one point he's even described as "that irritatingly good-looking pilot" by the villain.
