The Lies We Tell by Becca Steele is an enemies to lovers college bully romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Kelli Tager and Gregory Salinas.

This is the first book of Becca’s that I have read and it definitely won’t be my last. Becca hooked me from the very beginning. I absolutely loved the kindship between The Four (Caiden, Zayde, Cassius and Weston). I loved the chemistry between Caiden and Winter. The book does end on a cliffhanger but that was no surprise since it’s the first book in the series. I can’t wait for the next book in the series The Secrets We Hide to be released on audible.

Kelli and Gregory did an amazing job on the narration. I loved that they both used different tones/voices for each characters. It really helps bring the story to life.

I would highly recommend this book if you love Enemies to Lovers, College Bully Romances, or Suspense Romances.

The only reason I finished this book was to learn of the mystery of the plot, only to find out it’s a cliffhanger…I won’t be reading book 2, I feel like there isn’t that much story to tell that an entire other book is needed. I didn’t care for the FMC, the MMC’s were okay I guess. The third act breakup was so frustrating as well. Overall this series just wasn’t for me.

I found this series by accident, and I very quickly fell down the rabbit hole reading them. This was my introduction to Becca Steele, and I'm glad this is how it started! This is one of the few instances when a step-brother romance doesn't creep me out. This was more than a dark romance. It had a dirty secret, and it wasn't just a quick blip kind of mystery either. And it also didn't take away from the romance of the book. I do kind of wish that the enemies to lovers did just spin so quickly, and it could have lasted a little longer before they came to their senses.

The Lies We Tell

Thank goodness book 2 is already available as this one did end on a cliffhanger. I loved each of the guys even the ones with bad attitudes

All the tropes wrapped up in one book

This book was ridiculous and outlandish; totally unrealistic... but you know what? It was great! I can’t wait to read the next one

the fact that i had to open the kindle app on my laptop in class once and THIS BOOK COVER POPPED UP. i was mortified and for that im changing my review to 1 star.

him being her step brother just kinda made it weird for me, i didn’t like that it ended on a cliffhanger but it was a short book. step-sibling trope is absolutely gross to me, im sorry if you love it

Wonderful book to start this series. I have never read this author, and this book made me want more. Winter is such a strong character. She isn't going to let "The Four" distract her from what she wants. Caiden is a spoiled little brat. He wants what he wants, and he wants Winter to get the hell out of his school, and life. He paints her with the same broad brush as her mother. The characters are strong, and very developed, the plot is solid, and the book is told in dual pov.
The world is wonderfully crafted. You feel like you are part of the story. Caiden and Winter get three books from what I read. I cannot wait to read more. I can tell you this is a cliffy. There obviously is way more to come in the next book, and the one after that. Cannot wait to see how this unfolds, because wow, with the twists and turns this book was a non-stop rollercoaster.
