Oh wow this was amazing. What can I even say? I'm just sitting here in the afterglow of this book, thoroughly happy I got to enjoy it, and sad it's over.
Faith and Aron were amazing. Their chemistry and growth together felt so natural and real. And the humor in this book was on point. I laughed out loud, literally. I also smiled, and felt Faith's emotions too as her journey progressed.
The world that this book was set in was so interesting. Incredibly fleshed out, and it made me want to know more and more.
The one and ONLY problem I had with this book was how when Faith got transported to a new world, how come she could understand everyone? She couldn't read the language, but everyone spoke English?
I don't know what else to say about this book. It was so good, and I wish it hadn't ended so soon.

Have we read the same book?
I really had high hopes for this. It seemed perfect on paper-- Lots of dialogue, plot's interesting enough, promise of spice later in the book--but holy s***t I'm at 40% and there is no plot progression. I can't bring myself to continue.

4.5 stars - this book was great! Loved the slow burn (proper slow burn too.. none of this flip a switch and suddenly they’re in love stuff), the chemistry between the two MCs, Faith’s snarky attitude, and Aron’s evolution. The world building was fantastic, I fell in love with the side characters, and I cried my eyes out a few times.
Perfect if you liked Laura Thalassa’s Four Horseman series, or even those who liked Shadow in the Ember and Fall of Ruin and Wrath by Jennifer Armentrout.

The start of probably my favorite book series ever. Ruby Dixon proves herself a master of world building in a fantasy setting. She beautifully balances the complex new world with her wonderful characters without being overwhelming to read.
