It took me a while to enjoy this book, and to be fair, I went from dark fantasy to a very rigid slice of life. While I was invested in the book, it was like being invested in watching a train wreck, I couldn't look away from the characters' lives, and it was so fast-paced. So much happened but also so much was missing from the narrative because of how much it skipped around. I only really liked two characters, maybe three? I'm not really sure if I was ever meant to like any of the other characters or if they're meant to be the villains and redemption of their own narrative, but they haunt each other.

The last 10% of this book brought it from 3.5 to a 4 for me 🥹. Beautifully written and narrated filled with ordinary and extraordinary moments that create a life.
