A heartwarming, realistic finale to the bestselling To All the Boys I've Loved Before series. As always, Lara Jean Song Covey's whimsical, dreamy, clumsy yet endearing personality is a breath of fresh air—remarkably different from the many fierce, intimidating, flawless female protagonists we see today, yet a heroine in her own right. From weddings to graduation to the turmoil of choosing the *perfect* college, this last story with the Song girls, Peter, and the rest of the beloved TATB characters is one for the ages.
........what the actual flip was that...........?
i have a crap ton to say about this novel, but i don't want to be met with a lot of criticism back, so i'll try to say it as nicely as i can: i waited for this novel to redeem itself until the very end. seriously.
for one, there were A LOT of moments that just segued to another place without literally no build up. (a scene i remember quite well is one time peter and lara jean were talking about something something college and one got pissed and they just averted the subject altogether. lara didn't even think of it afterwards, she just kind of forgot it??? weird??)
also, i'm sorry, but i honestly think their whole relationship is superficial. i mean, i get it's a YA novel and all, but damn, it could've gone so many other ways without it feeling so... unnatural? lara jean sees peter as this kind of admirable dorky dream boy (emphasis on the word boy lmao) and it's so weird !!!!! she's one of the biggest mary sues i have encountered EVER and it makes me sad.
let's list the other stuff down
- where! is! the! character! development!!!???!!!
- is lara jean a robot?
- isn't peter kavinsky a big gary sue
- doesn't in feel like john ambrose macsomething just pushed into the story
- apparently margo is only 19? she acts like she's 40? what?
- WHERE!! IS!! THE!! PLOT!!!!!??!
- pacing was good, but it seriously has no story to tell
- ...and the main conflict is.....?
- they just constantly avert confrontation it's so annoying
- seriously when is lara jean's character gonna develop
- peter's dad was a weird plot device that served literally no purpose whatsoever
i have more things to say about it that resulted to me giving it two stars, but let's not get started with that now, mmkay.
