A well-written historical novel, based on the life of a young woman who became a preeminent sniper in the Russian army during World War II, and later traveled to the United States as part of a Russian delegation, befriended by Eleanor Roosevelt as she toured the country seeking to convince America to open a second front in Europe to split the German army then invading Russia. With some (unnecessary but interesting) heightened fictional detail added by the author, the story is still a very good biography and history lesson.
