This took me forever to finish even though it was an audiobook. It just seemed too easy to put down. While Esrahaddon was not a bag character I did not enjoy the pacing of this book that basically told four different stories over the span of Esrahaddon's life. While they all came together more or less in the end, I do not enjoy time jumps and what they do to the story.
I did enjoy the Easter eggs for the rest of Elan but am thinking this book might work better for someone who hasn't read all other Elan books (because Esrahaddon's willful ignorance of supernatural events is very tiring and knowing the ending without knowing the surviving takes some of the suspense out of this book.

Ultimately a fun read, but feels more like four novellas than one novel

Well, this book ended with a bang!! If you know …you know.

I was thrilled to discover that another Michael J. Sullivan book included the humorous yet sometimes sarcastic banter and witty remarks that I’ve come to expect from the author. The characters in this book are well-crafted, with some endearing and lovable personalities while others leave a bit to be desired. The book strikes a perfect balance between these elements. One of my favorite characters is Neblick. My brother started Bookclub 2.0, on this journey of reading through Michael J. Sullivan’s entire catalog of works. We’re thoroughly enjoying the experience and have only three books left in this connected series. I can’t help but feel a sense of dread as we near the end of this wonderful reading journey!

Easily my favorite book from the trilogy!! Michael’s character development is outstanding, no surprise there. I was laughing out loud so many times but also had to pause at deeply emotional parts. I’ve been reading Michael’s work over the span of a decade so I did forget a ton of lore, but still found this book very enjoyable.

In all the world of Elan, this book tops them all. Honestly, this is the best of the best of Michael J. Sullivan. The prose, the characters, the narrative, the plot, everything was there. Every turn of the page was entertaining. I could feel the texture of the world, the tastes, the atmosphere, the emotions, the life!
