This book was surprisingly deep. Way deeper than the last book in the series. It really talks about the consequences and the effects divorce has on the kids. It also touches on how some parents rely too much on other sources (day care, babysitter, school, etc) to raise their children. Giving birth, providing food, and shelter isn’t enough to raise a child. You have to spend time with them. Quality time and help guide them through the struggles of life.

IT’s frustrating that they’re skipping tiles from the original series, publishing them out of order and mixing plot lines from multiple books into one.

This is the first of the graphic novels adapted by Gale Galligan and I think she did a great job keeping the art style similar enough to Raina Telgemeier's that it's not jarring or even really noticeable. The only thing I noticed, after really looking, was the noses lol. I'm still sad they skipped over Claudia & the Phantom Phone Calls and also The Ghost at Dawn's House. Looking ahead, I'd rather they had skipped over Kristy & the Snobs. I did decide awhile back to only get the first 10 of the graphic novels, because I really don't have the room to keep going with them. I also am still hoping for some Super Specials though and would definitely get the first 2 of those.

Raina Telgemeier released the first four books of the Baby-Sitters graphic novel series and now Gale Galligan has written and illustrated the fifth book. While the drawing-style is slightly different, the writing and character portrayals uphold perfect continuity with the rest of the series. And it’s no wonder, since Galligan worked as a production assistant on Drama and understands exactly how to write like Telgemeier! This latest book deals with not wanting to share a best friend, having to baby-sit for an absent single-mother, and the complications of divorced families. This is realistic fiction at its finest!

Another excellent installment
