I just finished the first two Summer I turned pretty books and will start on the 3rd . I’ve actually owned the books since they came out like a decade ago but I’ve never read them . Now because of the show it makes me want to read them and I’ve been comparing the differences between the show . I feel like both the show and the books are amazing
I completely devoured this book! I haven’t sat and read an entire book in one day in a very long time, but I just couldn’t put it down!
This one was an emotional read, the theme of grief is very real and Jenny Han does a great job at articulating the many ways humans handle loss. I just love each of these characters so much, and I understand that usually people are very much ‘Team Con’ or ‘Team Jere’, however I see two boys who both adore this girl. They are navigating grief and love at the same time, and Belly is truly in the middle.
I think as I am reading this as a 27 year old, I can see the confusion and feel the struggle along with Belly. She is so young and trying to navigate lots of emotions and new dynamics and I think Han has a great way of showing this.
I really am enjoying this series so far, and I am so glad I gave the books a read before jumping into the TV show. I think having Belly’s inner monologue really helps us understand her choices.❤️
