"Happy endings are for mumus and fairy tales."

Nearly All The Men In Lagos Are Mad is a collection of 12 short stories about the scandals of some of the most audacious fictional male characters that you will ever read about in your lifetime.

CW ⚠️ Sexual abuse & descriptions of r*pe.

My OG followers know short story collections are my fave type of books, and you see Nearly All The Men In Lagos Are Mad, this book did the damn thing!

Nigerian men receive a lot of bad press within the community, so I found many of these stories not that far removed from stories that I have heard in real life...

Nevertheless, this book had me hollering throughout, because it was sooo funny. The stories of these mad Lagos men had me hollering & clutching at my imaginary pearls. Despite this book exploring the audacity of these men, I was equally looking at many of the female characters sideways too, staying with a disrespectful brute for what reason please?! Issa STRONG no for me.

These stories were all individual & at no point did I tire of the shenanigans, I was left wanting more and more, and each story delivered. I was fully invested in every single character from these stories.

I am still floored by the pastor who was worshiping at the wrong temple. Pastor, may your tongue be bound, IJN 😮‍💨🫣

The final two stories were the most poignant stories  for me,  they were stories that highlighted the vulnerability of men; how trauma manifests in men and filters through to their relationships; and lastly, that not all men are sh*t. I believe the final two stories were necessary, and will provide readers with a lot of food for thought.

Overall, I totally loved this collection of stories, they were bold, thoughtful & hilarious. Damilare strikes the balance well with hilarity & seriousness within this collection. But readers, please take these depictions of Lagos men with a pinch of salt, they are not all bad 🙂👀
