At some point I’ll probably come back and talk about how much I liked this and how much it meant to me, but if I tried now it would just be incoherent squawking. Holy crap what a series.

I appreciate that this trilogy feels like it was planned out from the beginning, and as a result the twists and emotional beats in the final book feel well-earned. These books hooked me in a very specific way that I'm not sure is entirely transferable, but I loved the well thought-out magic system and all its nuances, the sarcasm and teenage angst, and even the melodramatic YA moments. The stakes were high and the characters easy to get invested in. I wouldn't recommend these books to people who hate YA fantasy, but for fans of the genre it really doesn't get much better than this.

Giving this a 3 felt generous. I loved the first two but this fell flat for me. El is an extremely irritating character, but I was able to push through it in other books.

This book felt unnecessarily long and complex with the relationship between El and Orion taking last place. Glad I'm done with this series (oops)
