While I’m so happy to be back in this world, I didn’t love this as much as I wanted to. Whitney’s day starts off well, but it all goes to hell after one meeting. However, being the good friend that she is, she doesn’t want to let her bad news spoil her best friend’s good news.

Domino enters the picture, and things start to look up for Whitney. It’s someone who finally sees her obvious talent in her field. The story definitely picks up from here… but I have to say… I hated her best friends. Lena and Jackie were not great friends to Whitney. They lied to her the entire time they knew, and although I understand and agree with why they did it, I hated how it was handled. Jackie treated it like it wasn’t that much of a betrayal and not that big of a deal… “Hey, now we can finally tell you about all of our great adventures! You can join us now!” I was like, “Girl, read the fucking room… Whit is close to a breakdown.” It just felt like a total disregard of Whitney’s feelings. Lena was only marginally better.

I absolutely loved Domino. He didn’t choose this—he was just living it the best way he could. I enjoyed the banter between him and Whitney. I would have loved to have seen more development of their relationship. It would have also been great to have more development on Domino. It was nice to see Rayna and Metice… and I feel like this may be building up to a much bigger story, but we’ll see.

There was humor, drama, and revelations… and some smut (could have used a little more… but that’s just me.)  While the ending felt a bit rushed, I still enjoyed this for what it was. This book is available on Kindle Unlimited (however, there are alternatives if you don’t want to use Amazon). Show your local library some love and request this, or you can support your local indie bookstore and purchase this.

I’m just not in the mood for a romance book rn. May come back to it in the future

I thought it was going to be a repeat storyline from the last book but I was pleasantly surprised. I love how it tied in the characters from the previous book. Overall great story. Enjoyed reading it. Perfect read to enjoy after watching Sinners. And I learned more vampire lore which is pretty cool.

I absolutely loved this book so much! It’s rare we have supernatural/paranormal books about black characters and this one was gold. Domino and Whitney’s connection was to die for and I need to be a fly on the wall bc whewww🤭I also realized something’s about myself🌚
the only thing for me is I just have a peeve when we find out the main characters come from a lineage and is the key to whatever but this was a bit different because she came from aliens and that’s something we never hear lol it great.

3🌶

I really like this book. It had some good funny, sexy and action-packed moments!

The only thing that annoyed me a little was the continual referencing of Rayna in ties with the old book. It felt like a celebrity guest performance on a TV show. I like that Rayna was there to help Whitney out but it also seemed forced.
