Meh. I'm thinking I would have cared more had I started with previous "Grant County" novels. For me, as a latecomer, I found the character development lacking and I didn't find anyone particularly interesting. So the ending did not shock or horrify me as it did many Goodreads' reviewers who were more emotionally invested having had a much longer relationship with the characters.

Good story, horrible ending. Not because it was horribly written, but because I was mad at what Slaughter did. I wanted to throw the book in my pool. I'm going to start the Will Trent series and I'm hoping to get some answers about where this left off.

I kind of felt like the author was just phoning it in with this book. It wasn't nearly as good as the rest of the series. And that ending? All of the rage.

I had a feeling in my gut when I started that I knew how the end of this series would go. I have barely 3 minutes of the audiobook left and thought for sure that I must have been wrong....I wasn't. And now I'm going to go cry like a little baby.

I found the character development and relationships more satisfying than the mystery this time around, but I still enjoyed this entry!
