I couldnโt put this down! I truly enjoyed this Duet and if you like dark romance, READ THIS! These were my first introduction to Sophie Lark and Iโm hooked. I cannot wait to read more of her books!

Yesss, I thought this was really good! I adored Mara and Coleโs obsession with each other and how it only grew. I loved Maraโs development into the darkness and the overall air of insanity within this book.
We get more backstory of her childhood trauma too which is harrowing to read, as well as more of Coleโs journey and how he became who he is now. Questions are answered and loose ends are tied up and it was all just very well done.
Both Mara and Cole are deeply fucked up but the dynamic of them now being fucked up together is honestly so powerful, I loved. The lust transforms during this read into love. And the intense (and literal) โtouch the one I love and you fucking dieโ trope is all over this book from both sides, itโs great, I love that their unhinged passion is reciprocated by each other and that theyโre a force to be reckoned with.
And the soundtrack whilst reading provided by Lark just transforms the experience!
Epilogue was kinda insane but it just shows how fucked they both are and Maraโs officially popped all the way off.
Satisfactory ending? Yes.

I enjoyed this conclusion to Mara and Coleโs story. Definitely liked the first one more, but this was still good. I really loved Mara and Coleโs relationship and seeing them grow together!! They had many very cute moments together.

Ok absolutely binged this duology and definitely preferred the first one - this one gets wayyyy darker which was a lot at times and just overall this was a lot but still definitely really liked this series despite it being super tucked up lol

Again, I enjoyed this book for exactly what, I think, it was: perfect filler.
Itโs the kind of book you read to get out of a slump - itโs got an interesting, if predictable, plot that doesnโt lag, it has romance, it has tension, it has the steamy scenes, the big conflict. It was the perfect sequel to the first.
For me there was never any questions, any confusion, the plot was clear cut from the beginning *spoilers ahead, beware* - Shaw will be an issue, Shaw will die, Cole will get away with it all and Mara and Cole will live happily ever after. And thatโs exactly what we get.
Itโs a great book if you want to read something that doesnโt take a ton of brainpower as well. The writing is plain enough for those who donโt like the embellishments of other books but itโs got a flair that makes it attractive to the veteran readers. The world building, being a modern setting, wasnโt confusing, the characters were also pretty clear cut but Lark was impressive in being able to really delve into the thoughts and feelings of a psychopath as per Coleโs POVs.
Overall, I recommend it.
