Full of the humor and charm you would expect. Most characters are oblivious to themselves, and Austen’s writing does a great job of showing the reader what they can’t see, though for all of the fun that provides, it can feel a little thin at times. Overall, the arc of Anne starting to get recognition after being written off and eventually succeeding in love works nicely, though it’s slow at times and fairly predictable (especially in light of Austen’s other works). There’s a little thrown in towards the end where Anne considers how lost love affects men and women and whether her initial rejection of Wentworth was a correct decision, which I appreciated.

Absolutely loved this work and from all her other stories this has become my favorite. An Austen novel does not include many of the problems involving the different societies of 19th century England as incorporated into works done by other authors, but she presents situations involving classes that mainly focus on making good matches. In this story the main focus would be on three very different sisters. The youngest Anne was persuaded to abandon one she was engaged to, deemed not worthy of her rank in society. Years later they are brought together quite by fate and the rest is the making of a very good read.
