This was a great book, as it showed what a teen might go through when grappling with sexual orientation. It might not always be so binary, and that’s ok. While I was disappointed in the ending, it’s a likely very accurate ending.

I don’t know anyone with the personality of Cam, so I’m not sure how believable the character is…but I have faith in the author portraying him realistically.

frigging brilliant

I read this book so fast! I couldn't put it down, the narrative was so compelling. The complexities pulled me in and I always wanted to know more. The relationship between Cam and Nate was complicated and messy and, in my opinion, truly represented teens struggling with big feelings and ideas without the support of adults; it also shows the damage that suppression and rejection cause. I also loved that Nate was questioning the possibility of sexuality and religion coexisting. I think that is a perspective that needs to be shared and explored in fiction. Structure-wise, I loved the short chapters - they created the perfect pacing and suspense. Also, YES bi representation!! 100% worth the read.

Beautiful story, an unfortunate ending that somehow is still the best way to end the story.
