Cute cozy fantasy romance with fun world building.
hopeful fast-paced

Coffeeshop In An Alternate Universe by C.B. Lee is a cute multidimensional cozy fantasy. Both Main characters were lovable and I think they worked so well together. The thing I liked the most about this book was the family and friends of each of the characters who were supportive and showed just how much they loved Brenda and Kat. I also enjoyed the descriptions of each of the dimensions and the coffee shop especially is something I'd love to visit with all of the unique potions that could be added to the coffee. I did see the twist coming but I thought it was well done and the ending was perfect.

Coffeeshop in an Alternate Universe by C.B. Lee is a fun YA fantasy romance.  I enjoyed Brenda and Kat and their friends as well as the multiverse premise and world building. I think it had just the right amount of predictable for YA. For a queer book, I was very confused by all the positive inclusions of HEAVY Target placement, Harry Potter & Narnia, and even Fox News. The audiobook was well narrated by Elyse Dinh and Emily Woo Zeller.

A sweet story about love, loss, and magic. Sometimes the story felt very surface level and a bit cliched, but was a nice departure from darker stories. The author managed to toe that very thin line between having an exciting story full of twists and turns and keeping the tone light and fluffy.

Stop the presses, I actually enjoyed a cozy romantasy. AND it's YA. Hell may have frozen over.

Chronic pain has been absolutely kicking my ass and I just wanted something light and this absolutely fit the bill. Just enough stakes to keep me invested because I absolutely cannot do the "cozy vibes, no plot" fantasy, even if the plot here was predictable.

The romance was cute, despite the insta-love. I liked how normalized queerness was in this world! Pacing was wonky; slow for the first 3/4 and then absolutely breakneck in the last quarter-ish. Did the dreaded "5 page denouement" that I absolutely hate, and that was disappointing.

For what it was, this book accomplished what it set out to do. It was compulsively readable, and juggled both its cozy and its fantasy aspects successfully. It kept my attention most of the time, and that's no small feat these days! Looks at my 20+ 2025 DNFs 💀

Rating this a 3.5/5!
