SO, after finally hearing and seeing so much about Romeo and Juliet(TV shows, other books, etc.) I decided to give the actual book a try. Yeah...you know, it was kind of a disappointment compared to what I thought it was going to be. But maybe that's my fault for having such high expectations for a book that has been so highly...highly talked about. Don't get me wrong...I mean this was an okay decent book. But if only, if only, if only I knew what the characters were saying and what the narrator was saying more then about half the time. I mean I know the basics: 1. Romeo and Juliet dance at the ball even though I think Romeo is with someone else and the Capulets and the Montagues don't like each other.
2. Romeo does this big long speech outside of Juliet's window and it has something to do with a rose ...
3. They plan on getting married but then Romeo gets into trouble but then they get married anyway and Romeo runs away someplace.
4. SO, something happens, some friar or something gives Juliet(I think) some potion that makes them SEEM dead but they aren't but Romeo doesn't know that and I think he uses the potion on himself when he sees Juliet "dead". Then Juliet wakes up and sees Romeo dead and uses his sword to kill herself.
I could list the part where Romeo and Juliet's family make up or whatever but then I would just get mad because that was the stupidest part of the book. I mean, it's too late for them to make up now! So, after reading this book, I A. ended up just about knowing as much as I knew before I even picked the book up and B. had a headache from trying to read all those unnecessary words.

A play that is more about hatred than love. It portrays a teenage fling pushed into something much darker, because the Montagues and Caprulets can't get over their hatred of each other.

This one was lighter than some of the others and we go into it not knowing much about either of the two main characters (Kate and Harrec). While it’s not supper deep it is fun and adventurous.
It reminded me some of Kira and Aehako’s story where they’re in love and choosing one another without the influence of the khui.
My only issue was again we see the authors fatphobia coming through. Kate is described as over 6 feet and built like an athlete/linebacker and how she’s so huge at 180 pounds. Also using the term athlete as derogatory rubbed me the wrong way.
A think a good sensitivity reader might help Miss Dixon move away from this tendency to fat shame her own characters and a few race issues I’ve noticed and other have pointed out in other books along with kink shaming (for all the “dirty” scenes she proclaims to write) and agism.
