This one was fun! I tend to no longer read books classified as YA but I had seen this one around a bit with good reviews, so I thought why not give it a chance. Imagine if America was ruled by a monarchy and not a president, mix in some elements from the E! TV show The Royals (albeit, cleaner content), and this is what you get. Despite its page count it's a quick read. It's fun, a little over the top (they are royals, after all), intriguing, a tad scandalous, with some family drama thrown in too. I look forward to finding out where McGee takes this series when the second book comes out. I liked that the characters didn't feel superficial and that there was a depth that grew to each of them as the story went along, making their relationships with one another a bit more complex. I hope to continue to see more character development as the series progresses. Will definitely be waiting for book #2!

Loved it! Totally recommend if you liked The Selection by Kiera Cass or The Royal We by Heather Cocks. It was a super-fast read with really likable characters. Ended on a big cliffhanger - Can't wait for the next book! The reason I didn't give it a fifth star was because of how predictable it was, but other than that stellar writing!

It took me a bit to get this from the library and it did not disappoint at all! And now I need book two right now!!! I was so intrigued to see what it would be like if the Washington family were royal and America had a king and queen. It was so interesting and loved all the different POV with the book, and I for sure have people I hate and others I love. It ends with the big change and need to know what happens next!

Overall, 4.5 stars
