I enjoyed this book well enough while I was reading it, but after I finished I had a hard time coming up with what exactly I liked about it. It has enough drama to keep you entertained, but nothing particularly interesting or surprising. There’s not much plot, so all the conflict comes from the many love triangles/the characters trying to decide between the path that’s expected of them or their forbidden love. Which is pretty much exactly what I was expecting from this book, so I’m not mad about that; the problem is that the romances aren’t particularly special or well-developed, so I wasn’t rooting for them. When she has to choose between love or the crown, I wanted her to pick the crown. I never felt myself being sucked into the romance, I just wished all the ladies would forget the guys and move on because they clearly aren’t worth the trouble.

So boring and slow. The characters are uneven. Bea, Sam, and Daphne are okay, Jeff, Nina, and Connor are not bad, and the rest of the cast are one-dimensional & used only as vehicles for the main group. What's is Ethan's point, except to feed Daphne? Why is the antagonist the only one who gets to have sex in this romance novel?

This book was recommended for people who liked Red White & Royal Blue. Just read that book a second time and skip this one.

Ok so many thoughts about the characters. First of all, the Washington family is messyyy. I LOVE Nina and Sam they’re amazing, and they both deserved better than what happened to them in this book. I’m not going to lie, I kind of felt indifferent about Beatrice and I sincerely hope that the next book will change that. Daphne is the absolute worst.

Now the plot… it was fun! Lots of scandal. It really leaned more into humanizing these characters, especially the royal ones. I kind of wish that we had some more politics in it, but I’m assuming we will get that in the next book. The ending absolutely killed me, and I’m really interested in seeing what happens in the next book

This book is exactly what it says it is. If your expecting forbidden love, gossip, and scandal you will definitely get it. If you've ever seen the tv show The Royals it is very similar honestly some of the story lines seem the same. But it is still an interesting spin on what if we had a monarchy instead of a president.

DNF - This book has made me realize that I am not a huge fan of forbidden romances when there is another person involved. I kinda wish I could just read the series about Nina, Sam, and Daphne.

The premise was super interesting but the plot just fell short and I almost didn’t finish it. I will not continue on with the series.

The story was pretty basic and predictable, but I loved the concept behind it. It did have me in tears at the end and left me wanting the next book.
