This is on the longer, more challenging end of the beginning reader spectrum. It's a pretty standard story of two nice kids doing something creative. The book is notable because the brother and sister protagonists don't look alike (one blond and white, one brunette and brown) but it's not addressed at all in the text of the book. So I'd say this goes towards normalizing families that aren't all the same race, and that's pretty cool.

I thought it was cute but the kids haven't asked for a re-read so only 3 stars.

Zach and Lucy and the Museum of Natural Wonders written by The Pifferson Sisters and illustrated by Chambers Mark. This fictional book was published originally in 2016. Throughout the book, the reader goes on an adventure with Zach and Lucy around their apartment complex finding and borrowing objects to put in their museum. The story can be inspiring to older elementary readers who are advancing their reading ability to possibly even create a museum of natural wonders for themselves as Zach and Lucy did. Since this book is intended for older readers, there are challenging words that will help students advance in their skill levels. In the classroom, teachers can use this book as an introduction to fictional chapter books. At the start, there is a table of contents and there are several chapters throughout the book. The pictures in the book help enhance the story by providing visuals that were talked about. The illustrator used bright and lively colors that bring a positive and encouraging mood to the story. <adventurous> <chapter book> <fiction>
