I struggled to get through this, and put it down and picked it back up several times. After losing her job at a prestigious Parisian restaurant, Georgia May accepts her estranged mother’s invitation to visit her in the Pacific Northwest. There, she learns that her loss of taste may be related to her career burnout, and the cure for regaining it is to find her passion for cooking. Her mother Star thinks touring the small town’s artisan offerings in the company of handsome oyster farmer Cole might do the trick…

I’m not always a fan of mystery elements or magical realism, but I love culinary stories, and was drawn in by the beautiful, descriptive, sensory writing; the vivid setting; and my wonderings at the reason why Star abandoned her daughter as much as the will they/won’t they pull of a romance between Georgia May and Cole. Ultimately, this is a tale of forgiveness as well as love.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this advance reader copy in exchange for a fair review. This will be on goodreads.
This is a sweet, pardon the pun, little romance with a little magic, family relationships and growth thrown in,
An up coming chef loses her touch, or is it taste? And gets away for a while to rediscover her passion. Coincidentally, her estranged mother invites her to her island cottage to learn some long held secrets about her life. There she meets Cole, in some sort of flux of his own. Will she rediscover her passion before the big interview in Paris?
Linden likes to throw some magic into her romances, and this is no different. I preferred the premise to Lemon Drop Pie but this one was also cute. It’s sweet, fun, and has that HEA.
3.5 rounded up to 4 for the prepub but not a dash more.

What a rollercoaster! At first, it seemed the FMC couldn’t catch a break. And look at fate having a way of bringing people back together at just the right time, for love, for healing, for truth.

Such a sweet spring read. I finished reading this at my desk with the window open, watching and listening to the rain.

While Recipe for a Charmed Life is definitely a romance, it’s mostly about an estranged relationship between a mother and her daughter, finding your identity, overcoming failure, and practicing forgiveness.

It wasn’t mind blowing, very Ratatouille meets Hallmark movie. I definitely enjoyed The Magic of Lemon Drop Pie more than this one. The magical realism aspect was kind of interesting and I did find myself really interested in the part where she is finally finding out why her mom left. The rest of it was pretty predictable and borderline cringey.
