Was led to believe there would be more Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon than there was. Still a fun book with insight into the Masters on the Jedi Council.

One of the best Star Wars books I’ve read in a long time, adds so much context to the prequel trilogy. It’s nice to see the Jedi before the Clone Wars, and it does a good job of setting up some minor plots.

** Gifted copy, all opinions are my own

A bit overdue, but here is my review of The Living Force now that I finished. Star Wars The Living Force by John Jackson Miller tells the story of the Jedi Council as they embark on a journey to Kwenn, prior to the events of The Phantom Menace. I'm not particularly fond of the councilors, nor care much about them but they are portrayed here in a different light compared to other media. It's refreshing the way they are shown in more mundane situations and how their personality and characteristics show themselves in those situations. It allowed for a bit of comedy through the book, which I found interesting. I also liked the way other characters raised concerns about the Jedi practices and how it serves as a kind of foreshadowing to their fall.

The Living Force is an interesting book and I recommend it if you like to learn more about a big cast of characters. Thank you to Random House Worlds for gifting me this copy.

Wow I'm a Yareal Poof girl I guess. He's so funny. I love all the jedi masters getting attention ✨ it was fun and silly but also the little plot was entertaining too. And I am forever a sucker for a little flash of Maul.

I really liked too seeing how the jedi should be/what they have fallen into. As well as expanding on how they've gotten so detached from the galaxy as a whole.

This book is beautiful. It shows the core of what being a Jedi was like, a multitude of different ways they impacted lives. The plot was interesting, specially the more action-driven Depa and Mace's povs.

Even then, I think it would've been a more tight story if we had fewer narrators. The idea of letting us see the perspective of each High Council member plus other surrounding characters like Qui-Gon helped shape and give life to the institution, but it made for a clunky narrative.
