I really enjoyed this book. Seeing all the Jedi Masters of the High Council in action and Master Qui Gon at his best was a joy to read.

The book delved into many themes, but one that particularly intrigued me was the Sith's potential exploitation of Jedi Outpost closers. This thought-provoking element, masterfully woven by John Jackson Miller, underscores the importance of light and the gradual encroachment of darkness when its absence is prolonged.

After reading the High Republic novels, I couldn't help but compare them to the Jedi of that time and see glimpses of the High Republic values, but the shine and optimism had faded.

By far, I loved seeing Master Depa Billaba and actually feeling like I got to know her.
It was wonderful to see her compassion, how she chose again and again to care for the young girl she saw rightfully as being trapped in a broken system. Her compassion is in stark contrast to the failings of Master Sifo-Dyas.

I was worried about this book, but I am very glad I read it. This gives so much context to this point in time, and I thoroughly enjoyed my time.

This was a fresh Star Wars read. I enjoy getting content that’s around TPM era, since we don’t often get to expand the lore from that period. This was an okay story. It didn’t exactly thrill me, but it was nice to have new content.
