I enjoyed this memoir of high school by musicians that I know only by their music. I loved to hear more about them and their life. This book captures the angst of high school and discovering oneself. I listened to this as an audio book and enjoyed the music clips and audio clips. I also enjoyed how they go back and forth in the book like a dialogue between them

For the most part, I enjoyed this memoir. I went into this blind as I didn’t know a whole lot about Tegan and Sara. Although I did watch the Freevee series, I didn’t have a good sense of what was real and what was fictionalized. I definitely felt too young to know some of the cultural references and also too young to know their older music. The amount of drug references was also a little jarring in the beginning. However, it was interesting to hear about their friend drama and relationship problems. It was especially interesting to hear how they got famous at such a young age. The sound clips of their early demos was also cool. Overall, I would recommend this for fans of the artists, but casual listeners might find this very mid.

Tegan and Sara are my favorite band and they BROKE me and sent me into my own high school spira with this one. Absolutely incredible. Made me feel so many things as I relate so hard to them. I LOVED the audiobook because 1 they read the book and 2 they play their music through it!! It adds such a beautiful touch that really pulls the story along. Heartfelt, emotional, inspiring, beautiful, hilarious, relatable.

You don’t have to love Tegan + Sara’s music to enjoy this book. It’s beautifully written and paced. Filled with the emotional highs and lows that exemplify adolescence / coming of age, Tegan and Sara tell a story that feels relatable even if you never dropped acid or wrote songs or grew up in Calgary with a twin sister.

I recognised so much of myself in Sara. Absolutely adored how you can see them mature and grow as artists but also people. Beautifully told.
